There are two forms of the Approximately Equal functions
- the fixed form evaluates whether two numbers are within a permitted variance of each other - this function gives the same answer irrespective of the order in which the first and second number is placed
- the percentage form evaluates whether Value 2 falls within a given percentage of Value 1 - in this case the order of presentation is critical to the answer.
The two tables below demonstrate how the return values vary in the percentage form of approximately equal depending on the order of presentation of the figures. The yellow cells highlight the differences.
