This menu item gives access to the relevant user forms for extracting numbers directly from a datalist of strings. There are two main submenus

• extracting numbers from within the strings
  
• describing or manipulating numbers contained in a string
  

The methods of number extraction depend mainly on whether the number is held at the extremity of the string (the beginning or end) or the user has to locate it in the middle.

The descriptions will tell the user how many numbers a string holds or the sum of all the numbers in a string.

Remarks

Most of the Worksheet Functions relating to extracting numbers from strings, are also replicated as forms for the extraction of numbers held in data lists. The advantages / disadvantages of using forms over formulae are discussed at User Forms vs Worksheet Functions.
