List Management

Unless a Spreadsheet Data List forms the basis of a specific analysis, it is likely that you will not want the list to muddle or clutter up the visible (or active) working area of your workbook.

The List Management dialog offers two basic options for hiding and recovering lists.


Hide Option Recover Process
Hide Lists Calling the show list function will recover the original list
Record Status Calling the show list function will display a copy of the original list for analysis purposes.

The hide option has the advantage that you can delete the worksheet when, because of future amendments, it has served its useful purpose. It carries the disadvantage that others can also delete it accidentally.

The Record Status option provides a permanent record of the state of play of a workbook (for formulae) or individual worksheets (for other data list functions). Subsequent changes to the workbook can be tested against this record.
