Although these functions are similar to the 'Numbers in Strings Menu', they offer a different and very much more sophisticated approach to the analysis and extraction of numbers from strings.

There are two broad categories

• the analysis of number groups in strings and extraction of individual details
  
• the relative analysis of each number group and the extraction of information associated with filtered record set
  

These categories are reflected in the menus. The extract numbers menu alllows the user to identify the number (or count) of the number groups within a string and then to report details of the group by virtue of its position in the series or array.

The second menu offers the means for the user to identify those numbers within the array that match specified criteria and to investigate the recordset that it generates.
