This function returns the number value or characteristic associated with a specified position in the number array.

This form takes (at least) four parameters

• the column address of the data lists for analysis - the alphanumeric string
  
• the position value for which the details should be reported
  
• the option of whether the position value is to be taken from a data list or a single value
  
• the characteristic(s) to be reported for that position
  

The first parameter must be a list in a column.

The position parameter, however, can be either a constant (e.g. 1 to report the first position in each string) or a column list containing the appropriate position value (in the example show the column contains the last position in the number array). You must specify which method you are using by selecting the appropriate option button.

The user can use this form to report any single characteristic or combination of characteristics.

The column headers provide a cryptic record of the analysis undertaken and the parameters employed.

Remarks

If the parameters supplied do not resolve to a number then an error value of -1 is returned.
