Once you have
created, named
and saved your series of search values, you can add (or register) the list for use within ACBA Tools.
This is a single continuous process but there are two discrete elements to it.
- a mechanism to set the name of the querylist, and the name of the generic group of which it is part
- a process to import the name, generic group and details of the location of the excel file into the ACBA Audit Tools software
Having created a string series, you may have a list of search criteria as shown below.

Call the pattern registration process from the main ACBA Functions menu - ACBA Functions, Audit Tools, List Analysis, Pattern Lists, Add Single List.

On clicking 'Add Single List' you will be presented with two message input dialog form in quck succession.

- the first calls for the name of the query list (e.g. My Garden)
- the second calls for the name of the generic group of queries to which this list belongs (e.g. Birds)
This process creates a complementary worksheet to that which contained the original search criteria - see above. This sheet records the name you have gave the list of patterns and the source from which it derives.

List patterns tend to be sensitive to minor adjustments and alterations (whether deliberate or otherwise).
- The 'Hide this Pattern List' button allows the creator to remove the list and its associated '-ListPat' from the immediate view of a user. It also has a second purpose.
- If this list is one of several within the same generic group, you will be asked where within current order of your query lists this new list should be placed.
