A string series is a list of search values that ACBA Tools uses to generate an analysis of the contents of a master string.
There are a number of rules for creating such a list
- it must start in the top left-hand corner of the worksheet (Cell A1)
- it must use the first column only
- no row gaps between individual entries are permitted
- the maximum number of entries (in a single series of search criteria) is 50
- 'Wild card' values (if needed) must be included in the search value
You have the following wild card options:
| Wild card |
Definition |
| ? |
Any single character |
| * |
Zero or more characters |
| # |
Any single digit (0 - 9) |
| [charlist] |
Any single character in charlist |
| [!charlist] |
Any single character not in charlist |
Having created a list of search values, it is useful to name the worksheet descriptively. We recommend you use letters (lower or upper case) and numbers only. See below this worksheet has been named GannetCormorants.
