Categories and Groups

The purpose of creating categories or groups is to allow the creator of the string series to classify/group a series of analyses together. This grouping serves two functions

The form below shows how the analysis lists have been grouped together under the general categories of ACBA WebLog and Birds.

Note that the classification only has to be meaningful to the expected user.

You create both the name of the list and its group classification when you first register the analytical series in ACBA Tools. This regsitration process is incorporated within the function for Adding a New String Series.

The Nature of Categories and Groups

Understanding the nature of a category or group depends very much one your own experience and knowledge of its components. The group classification is intended to bring immediate understanding to the rationale for creating the individual analytical lists.

The list below is unregistered. It contains the string group of orchestral instruments.

We expect to create four different groups of search criteria associated with each of the major sections of an orchestra - strings, woodwind, brass and percussion. Our problem is that the classification strings could refer to a wide range of concepts

In order to clarify the meaning of our list of search criterion called Strings we classify it generically as Orchestral.
